We sang & Danced... some of the dances we kinda forgot... Kapeka ...Where are you????

This time in my life was one that I will never forget. This was my Life for over 10 years. This, is what made me... what I am. I learned about my culture, music, dance, I can pick any part thats missing and sing it, play music by ear. I can read a persons mood and know when the slippers gonna fly at my head, I have learned that the best remedy to life is to Laugh.

I have made long lasting friendships and would love to pick up some old ones where we left off.....

I've heard there's a Reunion in the future!.... If your interested please leave your information or keep checking in for updates! It's being planned for next year..around this time.

Do you remember our Show opener? Ports of Paradise?? Anyone else get nervous when the song starts to play? Can't tell you what it makes Leilani think of?

After 20 years +, It seemedas though we walked away from Friday night practice the night before. Not too bad for a 20 year break?

This is just a work in progress... in time I'll get it looking good! If you have a blog leave your website and I'll put it on as a shortcut.

Anyone who has pictures of the group in the 70's & 80's send them to me along with current pictures! leave a comment with your email and I'll get in contact with you! Send this blogspot to other Kalani Islanders....and lets get this going!

Aloha

Aloha,

I'm sorry that I missed seeing everyone at the Ho'olaulea, but appreciate the pictures(video&sound) you sent. Our vacation planning to So. Cal. was off by about 2 weeks:(.

I think the blog is a wonderful idea to keep up with all of the gang! When I'm with my siblings and parents we reminisce about our time with the Kalani Islanders. Those were good times-an experience that will always stay with me.

Take care everyone, and hopefully we'll connect again soon...

Love,

Kapeka

Thanks so much for the email and blog. It was so nice to hear from you!! I have been meaning to email you for so long---Your blog is super great. I have yet to figure out or I guess be patient enough to put one together. It was so good to see how your family has grown. I think it was maybe 3 - 4 years ago that we had seen you guys. Aunty Jerry came to LV and I haven't seen her in a long time also and sent me your blog, too. I have to get it to my mom and teach her how to do the internet thing she really wants to see all your pics.

Anyways, I am glad to hear you are doing good. We are doing good, too. Still in LV and the kids are growing fast. Lets keep in touch.. thanks for reaching out to us!

take care!!!

Love,

Lynelle (Konia) and family :)

Aloha Kela et al . . .

The blog is great! Mahalo nui for getting it set up! It was great to see everyone again. You could tell the intervening years but it was also seemed like just yesterday we were all together. Wish I had more time to spend to catch up on all that has been happening in each of our lives but we have time for that later, right? And I agree that we should get together a couple times throughout the year - if not to practice then to just get together. Maile - I volunteer your hale. hahaha It won't be like on Scobey Avenue but using someone's home just seems right . . . imho anyway!

Malama Pono and I hope we can get together soon!

Mahalo Kela for setting up the blog! This is going to be great and I am so looking forward to our reunion next year. *just a thought ~ we should get together for a couple practices here and there throughout the year. Maybe Randy will have us at the studio once in a while

I thought I’d send out the picture from later in the day (including Uncle Frank and yours truly J heeeheehee) So wonderful to have spent some time with you all. I’m not familiar with blogging and didn’t know how to post the pic to your blog.

Love you all and whooooo the memories are so wonderful to re-live ~ Mahalo Aunty Moana and Uncle Frank!!!

P.S. SQUEEKY ~~ let me know if you would like me to set up our yahoo group to officially set up our Kalani Islander Reunion office.

P.S.S. I added my brother Lono aka Keawe to our list of e-mails!

Aloha everyone,
It was so fun to see all of you. I know I missed Ulu and Kuulei on Saturday. I really enjoyed sharing our memories and singing songs of the past. It's amazing we remembered those songs we learned 30 years ago. Wow! That's a long time, but I still felt like one of the little girls. I was ready to pick up the opala. Anyway, I'm excited for the reunion next year. I'll be practicing Hula Blues, Sii Matangi and Tokerau. Thanks Tommie for setting up the blog. U da bomb! Squeaky, I'm excited for the plans. I forwarded it to my brothers and my mom. My mom is excited. By the way, you all look great and have aged well. Must be da Hawaiian blood.
Take care. Keep in touch.

Aloha Kalani Islander-Mainland Family,
I'm so glad that I had an opportunity to be with my long lost family that was indeed my family every Friday night-Sunday. I so appreciate all the things I learned all those years of endless practices and performances. I look back now and know, it was all worth it. The music, dancing, singing and most important the Aloha we all had for each other. So many memories that I hold dear to my heart. I only wish my brother, Keola, my mom, Auntie Gladys, and dad, Uncle John were here to be a part of this wonderful reunion.
It brought goose-bumps to hear us sing with what little we had. It was as if I were back on Scobey Ave. in the mint green house sitting on the floor with the alto singers. Making sure Auntie heard our part loud and clear. It was AWESOME!! Kela the website looks great. I've sent it to my brother, Kaniala. Once I get the Kepola, Kanoe, Kanalei and Kaipo's email, I'll send it to them too. It was so nice to see all of you again. Let's keep in touch. Look forward to hearing from everyone. Love you all, Kekela
